Carvoeiro’s Boardwalk (which leads to the Algar Seco and Boneca Bar) is a wonderful boardwalk along the coastline. Ideal for a late, slow afternoon walk with a lover.
After walking through the Algar Seco boardwalk, you will find Boneca Bar, hidden among Carvoeiro’s rock formations and cliffs. This restaurant is perfect for a Bloody Mary during lunch after some tedious beach-hopping or great for dinner with oysters and cotton candy skies. A casual place with a dreamy outdoor terrace, a great view and a very fresh catch of the day.
Algar Seco is a viewpoint you surely can’t miss while visiting Carvoeiro. Walk along the magnificent boardwalk almost before sunset to explore the caves and dramatic cliffs when the sky is multicoloured. Get ready for a magnificent view of the ocean and the serene sound of the waves crashing with the most bizarre rock formations.
From above, you will recognize Praia do Vale Centeanes for the colorful parasols that decorate the heavenly scene. When you get tired of the sun, head to the small cove at the end of the beach and play cards, lay down and have a chit chat or stare into the crystal waters and philosophize… you will probably consider moving at some point.
Praia do Carvalho is unique because the only way to access the beach is by going down a carved tunnel on one of the gigantic cliffs that faces the sea. In this particular case, stairs are worth it. The beach is not large but it has charm. It has a platform in the side of a cliff to jump from. Refresh yourself in the clearest waters and enjoy a piña colada in the afternoon, when the cliffs make shade and sun is no longer needed after a day sunbathing.
