We get it, you may just want to call in to the Lineadombra for the views, though the food is also equally sensational. Idle over a slow lunch, vino in hand, looking out onto the lapping Venetian lagoon; with the Giudecca in plain sight this is really the Italian dream.

Order an Aperol Spritz on the terrace and enjoy front-row views of the Grand Canal and the beautiful domed Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute. Once the sun has gone down, move inside and wonder at the opulent interiors.

A trip to Venice is not truly complete without a visit to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, located in the former home of heiress and art collector Peggy Guggenheim at the Palazzo Venier dei Leoni. A museum devoted to modern art, the well curated collection showcases works by up to 200 artists, including her ex-husband Max Ernst and of many rumoured lovers. Read the book about Peggy before your visit, it is sure to entertain!
