The “pink palace of Ravello” – so called for its rose-quartz exterior – treads the line between kitsch and classic across mid-century-style rooms hoisted high above the Costiera. Is there anything more romantic than dinner on the Amalfi Coast? We don't think so and there is no better spot to indulge than at Rossellinis. The food and the views are unbeatable.

It’s worth the vertiginous trip to wander through these clifftop terraces, where stately pine trees reach for the sky, bright flowers pop against the blue below, and the odd medieval tower from the villa’s 13th-century origins springs up unexpectedly amid the greenery. Italy does a glorious line in landscaped gardens – and few are as dramatically sited as this.
