The vines trailing across the ceiling of Le Sirenuse’s dining room make it one of the most magical dinner settings in the world. On the menu are dishes that might sound simple (lemon risotto with capers, tiramisu) but are the absolute best versions of themselves. The views of Positano tumbling down the hillside to the sea don’t hurt either.
You don’t have to be a guest at Le Sirenuse to take a pew at this cliff-wedged Positano classic. With views like these, the drinks hardly need to be good – but the Amalfi-sourced inventions are top rate. Toast the sunset with a Franco’s Fizz: Italicus, almond, citrus, pistachio and salt – the Costiera in a glass.
In 1951, four Neapolitan siblings – Aldo, Paolo, Anna and Franco Sersale – turned their summer house overlooking Positano’s canyon-like cove into a hotel. 75 years later, Franco’s son Antonio now runs it with his wife Carla. The antiques-filled rooms look out over the colour-popping town below and the Salerno-fired tile floors still catch the light. Some things, thankfully, don’t change.
