Set just beyond Chora’s central roundabout, this house from the Patmos Heritage collection takes its name from the little chapel beside it. Two independent buildings frame a pebble-stone courtyard, while the rooftop terrace opens onto sweeping views of the sea, the Monastery and Patmos’ iconic windmills. Sleeping two to five guests, it works equally well for a couple or small family. The Konstantinidis family, who have restored and cared for these historic mansions since the 1960s, have kept the antique furnishings and traditional layout remarkably intact, preserving the character of the house rather than over-restoring it.

Three 1799 buildings have been cleverly joined into one 500-square-metre Chora house by designer Leda Athanasopoulou, who brought the ruins back to life. Inside, Greek pottery becomes lamps and antique copper trays turn into basins. Three master bedrooms, two twins and two studies sleep six to eight guests, while 83 square metres of terrace look out towards the island’s windmills.

General Themelis, a prominent figure in the Greek War of Independence, once called this house home. Built between 1785 and 1825, it still holds his family’s Patmian bed: two double beds side by side on a raised platform in the master bedroom. A walled courtyard garden and generous sea-facing terrace offer space for outdoor living, while the 340-square-metre house accommodates six guests, or eight with the two loft beds above the main suite. There’s room for dining indoors and out for ten, with week-long stays in keeping with the rest of the Patmos Heritage collection.

Named after Immanuel Xanthos, founder of the secret society that helped pave the way for Greek independence in 1821, this Patmos Heritage mansion occupies a prime spot near the Town Hall. Its unusually generous walled garden comes with an outdoor dining table for twelve, while uninterrupted sea views stretch from most rooms. Sleeping seven guests, it is one of the collection’s larger houses and a natural choice for families or groups. Inside, restored antiques and traditional details echo the character of the family’s other Chora properties, with simply more space to settle in.
