A must visit rooftop bar with spectacular views of the Acropolis and the rest of the city. Their cocktails are divine. Feeling peckish? Order some food and you will not be disappointed.
A neoclassical building on Ermou's quieter western stretch holds Ergon House Ermou, a few minutes' walk from Monastiraki metro. Eleven rooms wrap around a central courtyard, with hand painted frescoes and high ceilings kept from the original house. Downstairs, Taverna Ermou cooks in the style of an old Athenian taverna, while the Ergon Originals shop next door stocks the same Greek pantry goods that built the brand's delis in Thessaloniki.
Come for the astonishing views of the Acropolis from the terrace, and stay for the excellent food. Cafe Avissinia has an incredible atmosphere no matter the time of day: though if you're about on a Friday or the weekend we highly recommend going for the live music. Alongside a carafe of vino, and a delicious moussaka it's the recipe for a perfect evening.
Shops and stands selling eclectic items perfect for a souvenir to bring back home. Walk around on a Sunday to experience the real hustle & bustle of Athens.
A stunning boutique hotel housed in a former industrial factory where the heritage is preserved just as much as it is fused with the soft linen decor and modern design. Elegant and artsy; Mona is pretty much all we could ask for for that perfect city escape.
