Lourmarin's cobbled streets are home to this historic mill turned smart hotel where everything has a local touch: terracotta tiles, Provençal fabrics, vintage books on the walls, and a deli stocked with local produce, cheese, and wine. The pool is the obvious first stop; the surrounding area offers plenty beyond.

An hour from Avignon in the Luberon hills, this 19th-century auberge was reborn in 2024 by Lise, formerly of HolyBelly (one of Paris's best brunch spots), and her husband, chef Eric Monteleon. The food is the reason to come: local Provençal produce, a serious wine list, and real cooking skill. The rooms are simple and charming; the garden terrace at dinner is the place to be.

Stone the colour of dried lavender, cypress trees cutting straight lines into a wide Provençal sky. Les Hauts de Gordes sits above one of the Luberon's most visited villages without feeling remotely touristy. The bastide spreads across seven ensuite rooms sleeping a full house party, with walls thick enough to hold the night cool long into the afternoon. The infinity pool does the obvious thing (those valley views deserve it). Though Gordes fills up in July and August, the property sits high enough to feel removed from all of it. Book it for the kind of week that only happens in the south of France.
