This iconic five-star hotel is the height of luxury, housed in a landmark neoclassical building built in 1758 it is the ideal place to spend a weekend in Paris. Having undergone a five-year renovation, not a single detail was missed. 

Down a pretty paved street in the Butte Montmartre is this petite 25-room hotel (or rather, it feels more like a guesthouse) set around a secret garden. It’s a little bit quirky and a touch eclectic in design and detail, but they’ve worked hard to fill the rooms with furniture almost exclusively sourced from flea markets around France. It’s also in one of the most beautiful corners of Paris, with Sacré-Cœur and cool coffee shops only a meander away. You’ll want to ask for a room on the top floor for Parisian rooftop scenes.

Between Parc Monceau and Les Batignolles, this newcomer by Roman & Williams is a confident, very current take on the Paris hotel. Rich colour, custom furniture, and a curated boldness; an 80-foot pool, hammam, and climbing wall. Two restaurants, a coworking space, and a rooftop with an Eiffel Tower view. Technically a hotel, but it operates closer to a design house slash sports club.

If you didn’t know about this maison in Paris’ 8th arrondissement, you’d never really know it was a prestigious place to stay in the city. Word of mouth means Maison Villeroy attracts a certain type of guest who appreciates discreet service and a home away from home while on the move. With only 11 rooms, it’s often booked up well in advance with returning travellers who know what to expect: the rooms are high-tech, breakfast at the Michelin-stared restaurant is for guests only and there’s a special Japanese whisky menu at the bar downstairs. There is a private members club feel to the hotel (they actually have one, with only 100 acceptances a year) but it’s far from stuffy and pretentious, rather it’s established, sophisticated, and totally comfortable.
