When you're in the gastronomic capital, a visit to Les Halles de Lyon is essential. Though it first opened its doors as an indoor food market in 1859, it wasn't until the iconic Paul Bocuse took over that it became one of the finest spots for food and drink. From butchers, cheesemongers, bakeries, fishmongers, fresh fruit & veg stalls, chocolatiers and wine merchants to it's sit-down restaurant spots it's all too easy to spend a good few hours here.

For your cheese board of dreams look no further than Fromagerie La Mere Richard. Try the classic Saint Marcellin and Saint Félician, as well as some of the local specialities such as the pure goat's cheese Rigotte de Condrieu.

With a few spots dotted around the city, as well as one in the legendary Halles de Lyon, this is the place for the tastiest charcuterie. Perfect for that picnic lunch!

When you're in Lyon, there's no question that you go to Daniel et Denise Créqui. It's old school, traditional and there's not a small plate in sight. But that's why we love it. A three course extravaganza of some of the best Lyonnaise cuisine you can find. Order the signature pâté en croute with duck foie gras and sweetbreads and don't be surprised when a hearty platter of fried potatoes and mac-and-cheese finds its way onto your table. It's on the house!
