As Aarhus's first matcha bar, Hakkō outdoes itself in the green-drink game. Hand-picked strawberries are conjured into a thick syrup, mango is poured into the bottom of your typical matcha latte and early-grey is infused into the cup. Though the matcha doesn't stop at the drinks: it's combined in the pistachio buns and the baked black sesame cookies. For the non-matcha lovers, thankfully Hakkō is also a sourdough bakery meaning that you can still nab a breakfast bmo or a creamy cold-brew for your morning caffeine fix. 

Having won the Byens Bedste bakery, there's not a time of day when berta doesn't have a queue filing out of its great, glass door. Whether it be the classic bmo morning run to the more adventurous grovbirkes (a sesame and flax-covered malt and wheat pastry), these doughy delights never disappoint. The seasonal sweet treats make for an exceptional afternoon pick-me-up; when the creme fraiche, mascarpone and olive oil topped lemon cake is on the menu run, don't walk. 

Manda is the casual cantine, breakfast club hangout and long-table supper event space defining the Aarhus foodie game. Hot honey toasts, a chia oat bowl served with baked rhubarb compote and caramelized banana to Turkish eggs doused in a hot chili oil; this is the breakfast of breakfasts. Take a pew on the morning sun-drenched terrace out front for the ultimate people watching and, when the afternoon hits, order aperitifs for the courtyard in the back.
