Haus W is less a chalet and more a quietly radical reimagining of Alpine heritage, tucked away in Zug near Lech where discretion is part of the landscape. A 16th century lodge brought back to life over a meticulous three year restoration, it balances historic integrity with a deeply contemporary sense of comfort. Expect four serene en suite bedrooms, a generous living room made for long, slow evenings, and a library anchored by a fireplace that draws you in after a day on the slopes. The design led spa and private sauna feel considered rather than showy, while the overall atmosphere curated by the family behind Almhof Schneider leans into a rare kind of warmth that is thoughtful, crafted, and entirely unforced.
An ideal ski-holiday in Lech is spent at the Hotel Almhof Schneider, a luxurious yet traditional family-owned hotel. It's both incredibly personal and incredibly refined; they welcome everyone as if they are old friends. It's a great place to stay with kids!
Even if the slopes are perfect, a ski trip is never quite right without the perfect hotel. Check-in at Hotel Garni Shneider for wonderful service, affordable rates and classic cosy Austrian hospitality.

Sonnenhof is one of Lech’s oldest surviving Walser houses, dating back to 1393, quietly set above the Hinterwies lift in a sun drenched, traffic free hillside position with uninterrupted views across the valley. Carefully restored over two years following an in depth historical study, the house has been brought back to life with remarkable sensitivity, preserving its original character while adapting it for contemporary living. Now available as a private chalet, it sleeps up to twelve across six bedrooms arranged over two upper floors, with generous shared spaces unfolding below in what was once the original parlour and adjoining chamber. There is a sense of quiet grandeur throughout, from the master suites with their own bathrooms and walk in closets to the smaller rooms designed with families in mind. A sculptural sauna by Shinichiro Ogata sits tucked into the antique cellar, while an open fireplace by Giuseppe Ducrot anchors the upper floor landing, framing views over Lech. It is a house that feels deeply rooted in place, thoughtful in every detail, and entirely timeless.
