Tikehau
in French Polynesia

Tikehau is a coral atoll in the Tuamotu archipelago and it is, quite simply, one of the most beautiful places on earth. The lagoon is a colour that resists description, somewhere between turquoise and pink depending on the hour, and the marine life beneath it is extraordinary. Studies have recorded more fish species here than almost anywhere else in French Polynesia. There are a handful of small resorts and guesthouses, no crowds, no traffic, and nothing much to do except snorkel, eat fresh fish, and watch the sun drop into the Pacific. Which is, frankly, enough.
