A cosy farmhouse eatery with homey specialities and good coffee. This charming local eatery is a great place to refuel in between museums on Naoshima island.

The latest addition to Naoshima's art destination status is the brutalist-style Naoshima New Museum of Art, which is dedicated to contemporary works by Asian artists and designed by celebrated Japanese architect Tadao Ando. Found on a hilltop near the Honmura District and as the first museum to share the island's name, it's a space created to connect art, architecture, nature and community. 

This museum is a collaboration project between acclaimed artist Lee Ufan and architect Tadao Ando. It is a place where art, architecture, and nature merge. Located in a valley, surrounded by the ocean and hills, pinch us please. 

While it is a mission to get there it's well worth it for art lovers. Benesse House is a spectacular small museum by Tadao Ando. Oh, and did we mention it's also a hotel? Snag one of their provided maps and make sure to check out the scattered contemporary artworks around the property.
